ABOUT SAR
Staffordshire Advanced Riders (SAR) was established in 2009 by a small group of like minded individuals who wanted to form a local advanced rider training club in Staffordshire, and to that end, SAR was born.
Since those early days, led by the remaining founder member and then chairman, Jon Cook, we have grown in experience, and have a great deal of positive outcomes, getting through the coveted ROSPA advanced motorcycle test . The test is re-taken every three years, to ensure we don't develop any long term bad habits, as many of us would do if we were not encouraged to maintain our advanced level or riding, making us safer, better riders.
In addition to the one-to-one training, there is our monthly ride-out, on the first Sunday of every month.
We meet and set off from Stafford's McDonald's carpark. Stone Rd, Eccleshall Rd, Stafford ST16 2RA.
The day out is interspersed, with a few “cuppa- stops” for a rest and a bit of a social, as well as a lunch stop, before returning to start location later on in the afternoon.
We cover between 160 to 300 miles, depending on what type of ride it is. Look at the Group Ride-outs page for more details.
SAR has a strong core of experienced trainers and a committed committee. This allows us to continue to offer advanced rider training, out on the road, some occasional slow riding skills training, and a very enjoyable social side.
If you are thinking about developing your riding skills further, we may be just what you are looking for, if that means lots of fun as you learn. Though I am biased, I am confident to say we are a great bunch of like minded people who do not take life too seriously, though do take advanced riding and training, and the associated benefits very seriously .
We also have a social calendar where members and their partners are welcome to come along and socialise, and then there’s the annual Christmas Dinner, which normally includes a raffle, from which a donation is made to a related charity such as the Air ambulance.
